HUPDATETM and RUPDATETM - DISOSS Online Definition Management

HUPDATE - DISOSS Online HUP Management
If you have been managing DISOSS user definitions in the Host User Profile (HUP) data set with DISOSS' HUP Create and Maintenance utility, you know the drawbacks of this batch job. You can only run the utility when the DISOSS region is not active. To avoid disrupting your users, you have to run the utility late at night or on weekends. If you make an error, you have to wait for a batch job rerun.

The DISOSS Online HUP Management product (HUPDATE) is a CICS transaction that lets you manage HUP user definitions dynamically. You can add, update, delete and view user entries in the HUP while the DISOSS region is active. HUPDATE lets you respond to user definition requests immediately.

HUPDATE's full-screen, menu-driven user interface simplifies the task of user ID management because you do not have to run batch jobs or know how to specify complicated control statements. And HUPDATE's comprehensive validation pinpoints errors immediately, so you can make corrections on the spot.

HUPDATE lets you select user definitions by such criteria as Address, User ID, External Name and Type of user. This ability to focus on a subset of users means that you don't have to work with a list of the entire HUP.

HUPDATE also lets you define working relationships between DISOSS users. You can add, update, remove and display working relationships.

You can invoke HUPDATE from any 3270 terminal. Online help provides summary information about HUPDATE's facilities and their uses.

When you install HUPDATE, you can activate optional features that:
